Welcome to the Collected edit
A note from Rachel, founder of The Collected Edit
There’s a particular kind of mess that happens when you’re packing up a home. Not the cluttered countertops or laundry piles (though… those too). I mean the emotional kind. The shoebox of birthday cards you forgot you kept. The height chart on the inside of the pantry door. The nursery that somehow turned into a gym-slash-storage room and still smells faintly like baby lotion.
It’s not just stuff—it’s story. And leaving it behind is hard.
That’s the heart of The Collected Edit.
This business was born from a deep belief: that homes are more than walls and furniture. They’re layered. Lived-in. Full of moments that matter. And when it’s time to let go, the process deserves care, intention, and just the right amount of style.
Not Just Staging. Storytelling.
I’ve moved many times—sometimes with toddlers underfoot, sometimes mid-reno, and once with a baby strapped to me and gold spray paint in my hair. So when I walk into a client’s home, I don’t just see layout and lighting. I see the life that’s been lived there. And the potential for what’s next.
That’s what makes our approach a little different.
Where some staging firms strip a home down to bare bones, I believe in leaving just enough soul behind. Enough to make someone pause. Enough to make a buyer feel something. That’s where connection happens—and connection sells.
The Look: Collected, Calm, and Completely You
Aesthetically, The Collected Edit is somewhere between California casual and modern classic—think the warmth of Amber Interiors with the tailored ease of McGee & Co. I love a good vintage rug, believe in the magic of soft lighting, and never underestimate what a perfectly placed bowl of lemons can do.
But above all, I believe design should feel like home. Timeless, not trendy. Layered, not loud. Edited, but never erased.
What You’ll Find Here
This blog is a little extension of our work together. A place where I’ll share design tips, behind-the-scenes peeks, emotional truths about moving, and all the tiny details that make a house feel like a home (whether you're staying or selling). I’ll also answer common questions, highlight projects, and maybe even let you in on my favourite neutral paint colours—if you’re nice.
Thanks for being here. I can’t wait to help you honour your home’s story—and shape what comes next.
Warmly,
Rachel
